pretty sure mine has a plastic cork too. I am thinking about getting Addy a real gourd at some point. At Halloween/Thankgiving time a local farm stand sells pumpkins, gourds and squashes.

I found the note that came in the accessories without the gourd. Sarah, you were right - it wasn't drought but too much rain that ruined the crops. They had to be replanted three times to get enough! It said that the gourd would be sent out at no charge in the middle of January (1994) but ours came much later than that.
Mine didn't come with a cork either Ann - I wonder if you can get a replacement?

I got mine from someone selling it it might have come with a cork or someone might have just stuck one in. If it did come with a cork not anymore I checked with AGP
